Newly Sober ~ Learning Daily ~ Encouraging Others

Sober sounds so….boring. Only losers don’t drink, and I’m not a loser. It must suck to be an alcoholic. I’m not an alcoholic, they go to meetings. I don’t drink as much as they do, I must be okay. Right?

Not right. I still don’t go to meetings. And I don’t care for the label ‘alcoholic’. What I do care for is living a fun, adventure-filled, life. One that I can remember with zero regret. A life I can be fully present for. A life that alcohol stole from me for 20 years.

I found freedom only when others shared their stories. When I realized I wasn’t broken or alone. When I saw that life was truly better on the other side of the bottle. And so I share my story. I don’t have a magic solution, a cure-all pill or any of that. I only have myself, and all the imperfections and experiences that brought me to this point in time.

Wondering what it is like to get sober? Questioning how much you’re drinking? Comparing yourself? Waking up at 3:00 a.m. with sweats and regrets? You are not alone. Let’s get wicked sober. You are worth it.
